I noticed MP have smaller hubs now that would fit my foldable nova, Im just wondering if the same probelms that exist on the larger hub wheels hold true for the smaller ones as well, has any one tried them ?

thanks and merry xmas to all

Hi Tepol, Merry Christmas to you too;)

Magic Pie is a direct drive kit from Golden Motor. From what I have read having not tried one myself, they are not the most reliable kit, and the internal controller is not very good.

From my experience, I would choose an Ezee kit which is available for a 20" wheel. Not the cheapest or most expensive, but reliable, well made and powerful.

A Tongxin motor would be perfect :)

Problem is they are hard to get hold of. You could buy a complete kit from Electric Wheel Company though. They may even fit it for you.

it's the controllers for the Golden motor that people have issues with not the hub motors themselves. the first generation MP had an issue with spokes coming loose, this has now been changed and rectified. The smaller wheels will be stronger and i think they have a forged metal frame connecting the hub to the rim rather than spokes, i hear that they wind quicker at 20" compared to 26" too. you can buy the motor wheel with or without the controller built in. so you could just use a different controller. You cannot buy seperate parts to the kits in the UK and i don't recommend purchasing from China, try looking here Golden Motor ebike Canada electric bicycle brushless hub motor motorized wheel lithium battery conversion kit go green the prices for parts and shipping are pretty much the same as Chinas, but Gary the owner will honour your warranty and is easy to communicate with if anything did go wrong.

I have a rear 26" MP setup on my mountain bike. I've just ordered a a front wheel motor and will hopefully be running dual drive soon:D
