Hello all, we are ordering a Bakifets.nl Long this year and having it fitted with a Heinzmann direct drive motor. We tested this motor out and loved the power and smoothness and much prefered it to the Shimano Steps. We do need a second bike and are looking at the Yuba Kombi midtail. We are considering having the Heinzmann fitted to this too with the benefit of having interchangeable batteries but it's going to be a bit of a stretch financially so I've also been looking at the Bafang BBS01. I'm worried however, that we will find it inferior to the Heinzmann. Do you think there is going to be a noticeable difference? Are we going to wish we'd stuck to the Heinzmann? Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.

for climbing power, the BBS01 is better but for reliability, the Heinzmann is nearly indestructible. The BBS01 may overheat if you work it too hard.

Thank you for you reply. Interestingly I emailed Woosh and was told the BBS01 was not powerful enough for a cargo bike. Is there anything else we could look at? Is there anything that Woosh could supply that would work?

The main problem is the 24" wheels of the Yuba Kombi midtail.
I don't have any hub kit in that size.

I’m getting so confused! The BBS is a mid drive isn’t it so wheel size is no issue? The Yuba Facebook page is full of BBS01 conversions with happy owners.

the risk of burning the controller is higher with cargo bikes, that's why I wouldn't want to sell BBSes for cargos.
