I own a Fiido M1 Pro with the 500W motor, which is illegal in the UK and I do not wish for it to be confiscated. I have removed the thumb throttle and restricted the speed to 15.5 mph by way of pressing buttons on the display. However, my son borrows the bike to commute and he keeps changing the buttons back to achieve maximum speed. Telling him to leave the settings at 15.5 mph is a waste of time, in other words, in one ear and out the other!! Is it possible to permanently fix the speed to 15.5 mph via the display, or could I fit another universal type display that would allow a speed fix?? You are probably thinking just get a 250W bike and be done with it, however, we live at sea level and all roads out from our home involve very steep climbs. both my son and I are on the large side and I did borrow a mates 250W bike once and it proper struggled, hence the 500W Fiido. Any help / solutions would be much appreciated.

You can get 250w bikes with more power than that one. The 250w or 500w rating has nothing to do with how much power they produce.

Can the LCD be locked with a password? Download the manual and check.

If the motor has 500w written on it, you're out. That's the easiest thing to check and those bikes with fat tyres are cop magnets. Good luck.

Hi and thankyou for the response. The display does not have a lock code , so I've decided to sell the M1 Pro and buy a UK legal 250W bike. After looking at the various options, I've decided to buy a Haibike Alltrack 5, fitted wit a Yamaha PW-S2 and 720 Wh battery. The specification claims 75Nm of torque, so should cope with the hills and also enable a bit of off road usage.
