You won't have damaged the meter because the current went between the probes, not through the meter. You can test it on an AA battery or similar. More likely, you've blown the fuse in the battery. Follow the red wire from the connector to see if it goes to a blade fuse.

Lol there's always something. The 9v battery in the meter is dead. None in the house so it'll have to wait till later.

Green bike kit are good and reliable I have used them a few times, as with most from China it's the p&p that bumps the cost up.
