My charging lead has a break somewhere along the first 8 inch or so and needs a good twisting and bending to get my battery to charge.
Any of you experts know what I need to be searching for and where I can get a replacment which I can solder directly onto the electronic board?

They are available from Maplin, RS, BitsBox and others. First, you need to measure the outside diameter. A vernier would be best, but if your eyesight is good you can get close with a ruler.

Whats that block for near the plug? I can't find leads with that bit.
Is it needed?

It's an electrical interference suppressor, most chargers dont have them.

No, not really needed. Just to stop your equipment sending out radio signals. Just re-use the old one, or don't bother.

Be aware that if you go with the second option you will betray our presence and position to alien eavesdroppers. They may come to earth and death ray some Fucxing sense in to us.

Or trim the 8 inches off?

Thanks for all the help, initially I had no idea of what to search for and Alan put me onto the right path measuring the plug diameter, then searching e beay for
5.5mm which put me on the right path and also now knowing I don't need the interference block on it. Now D8ve has given me the idea of shortening the wire and my previous searches stumbled across just the replacement plugs.
There's my next project for next week.
