Hey everyone

So I have been giving my EBCO UCR30 a make over- replaced the brakes, new chain, tyres and a good lube.

The digital handlebar display ( Transx ) was in a sorry state - the rubber buttons have gradually become ripped and rubbed away so the whole thing is a mess and certainly not water resistant. With the winter coming it is surely bound to fail when it gets a good soaking. I bought a new one from Hollandbikeshop.

The problem is this - when fitting the new display ( which is precisely the same as the old one ) and plug it in, everything works fine EXCEPT the odometer - even worse, the electric assistance is not working, which suggests the wire from the pedals is not talking to the display. I put the manky old one back on and it works fine.

What am I doing wrong?

:)

Does the display have level 0 = no power, and was it set to that level?

There are most likely settings in the LCD for where to get the speed signal from and possibly settings from the pedal sensor too. Can you show us a photo? Did it come with a manual?

digital handlebar display ( Transx )
The more recent TransX systems used by Ebco etc use a can-bus network to communicate. The motor, controller and display all need the same software version to work properly (each component logs which version it has separately). It may be that you'll need to take your bike into a dealer to update the software so they all version match (i.e. your brand new display is likely to have a newer software version than your older bike controller and/or motor). There's a mini/micro USB port either on the digital display, or under the removable panel on your rack battery for the dealer to do that.

Worth phoning an Ebco dealer to check if that's the case.
