Have you looked at both ends with a magnifying glass? My guess is it's probably 20A. Did you not get a spare with the battery when 'you bought it?
Yes, you are right......closer inspection reveals it to be 20A 250v.....now, where to get some ?......no second battery, as was bought second hand.......

Well, just got to get a handlebar mount mobile phone holder, tidy the wires up, and job done......O.k it looks a bit "Heath Robinson" but it does what it's 'sposed to do.......using this I will always know what voltage is left in the battery, and that was the general idea......also, I've thoroughly enjoyed doing it !!.......View attachment 52624
I ordered one of those new wattmeters. When it comes, I'll show you how to do it.

Which one did you go for, the one with an external shunt?
No, the £10 with the nice looking screen. I'll do a remote shunt mod if it's possible.

Well, all is not lost !!.....replaced the fuse in the battery, all lights working, all assist modes working.......just been about two miles down the road and all is good......it's been a tense couple of days, since shorting things out.......to anyone thinking about tampering with their battery, be warned, there is an awful lot of power stored in there, mine went with a hell of a bang, and flash, and I honestly thought I had fried the battery, or at least the controller.......it seems I got away with it........ this time..........52654

Got a chance to try the Watt meter I mentioned earlier in the sun today. Seems nice and visible.
Excellant.

The pale yellow\green background of the display and the solid black text is very indicative of a transflective \ reflective display, which is waht you need for outdoor use.

It would be better for everyone if the cheap cr*p type displays used in some of these meters as shown below were not used as they cannot be 'fixed' for outdoor use'

Here's the volt meter, after installation, showing the battery fully charged.....it has an on/off switch......so cycle a few miles, check voltage......cycle a bit further, check aga53015in.....and so on and so on......

I decided against mounting it on the handlebars, and mounted it instead on the rear box.....not perfect......but it works !!53016

One feature these older types had which the newer ones don't seem to is the record of peak Amps/Watts.

Has anyone come across a meter with a barrel connector? I some times think it would be handy to monitor during charging. Unplug, check voltage, decide whether its charged enough or put it back on.

You don't need to decide if it is charged enough the charger does that for you and the LED will turn Green when fully charged, sometime is may switch Red/Green then Red again before finally going Green again as it balances.

No I know, I generally only full charge the battery every few charges though.
