Hi

Wondering part of my ideal route to commute goes along a red lined road, supposedly this means vehicle's can not stop along this road, except for buses.

Is there any reason or rules against traveling along this, its a quite flat road and not too many junctions so I should get a good turn of speed and economic on power usage too.

As I'm not too experienced advice, suggestions or thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks

If for whatever reason you need to stop on a red route just lift the bike onto the pavement (don't ride on pavement though)

Also, don't forget to check 'Bus Lane' signs, many (but possibly not all) bus lanes also allow cyclists, it will show on the blue sign if cycles are allowed, obviously being careful not to 'under-take' a bus (or you could end up at the undertakers).

What's a red route? Come to think of it, what's a bus?

Ben, west wales.:p
Aye, but you know what a sheep is, don't you?

Also known in Wales as a leisure centre.

Thanks Andy , seems half the route has service roads along side so they could prove useful , and a little bus lane along the way so looking positive

Red routes seemingly only exist where there are numpty councils, kinda like a double double yellow line ...no stopping for any reason at all at any time except buses .. Which always have double the needed stops along such roads for some reason, so kinda nullifies the no stopping idea.

Oh.. And a bus, well in England we have these every 10 mins big wheeled things, like giant sheep herds in welsh lanes, remember though this is English 10 mins so its about 30 ...
