Many traffic lights at junctions, down yer, have the lights set well back to allow for long vehicles to make the turn without wiping-out any cars waiting for the light.
I generally go past the light & stop at the junction & wait for the crossing traffic to stop, then get on with it.

I often see "where'd he go?" expressions on drivers' faces when I'm no longer where they expect me to be

Good one, sorry couldnt resist that last post, anyway am going to change my behaviour, on reflection ive behaved stupidly on the road and im lucky not to have had or caused an accident, thank you for your thoughts everyone.
