July 22, 20241 yr Author https://www.spokesfromryan.com/ If your spokes have been breaking, you should go down to 14g, not up to 12g. Thanks. That's not why I'm asking.
July 22, 20241 yr Author Incidentally, I've had a good number of 14g spokes break, but never a single 13g.

July 22, 20241 yr Author Why?? For the reason outlined above. Now, if I could just find a source for a rear wheel with 13g spokes.
July 22, 20241 yr For the reason outlined above. Now, if I could just find a source for a rear wheel with 13g spokes. 14g spokes break less than 13g ones. They're lighter and they give a better ride. There is no advantage of 13g ones. Spokes normally break because they come loose due to incorrect wheel-building, lack of maintenance or both. 14g are more elastic, so easier to tension and they don't come loose. Use 13g if you want. It's your bike.
