I recently purchased a HOMSCAM rear view camera and Widras phone holder mount:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072KQC7ZW/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FBNYJ8L?ref_=pe_2105081_77703951_E_Asin_Title

Both items performed excellently and I can recommend them.
Having installed the HOMSCA BIKE app on my mobile phone, there was instant communication between phone and camera via the internal wifi.
The Widras phone mount was a quality item, being secure and rugged.

Unfortunately I am obliged to return both items because of the quality of the display on my Samsung Android phone.
The display was fine when tested indoors with stacks of contrast, but outdoors it is a different matter when the phone is angled upwards towards the sky.
Even under cloudy conditions, let alone bright sunshine, the display lacked definition and looked “washed out”. I was unable to detect traffic from the rear until it was very close.

I therefore have to agree with flecc that:
“Rear view mirrors are much better, these electronic screens suffer from being ineffective under many lighting conditions like direct sunlight.
A rear view device that doesn't give a view at critical moments is dangerous”.

I am now looking for a quality mirror. Any suggestions?

Zefal Cyclops is best bang-for-buck. It folds and easily adjusts. View is perfect. It's cheap. Others do the same but or more expensive, or they're simply not as good. I've yet to find one that does more.

Can anybody else recommend an adjustable mirror that stays in a selected position and gives a clear rearward view?

this works well for me, I find the view is better when the mirror is under the handlebar so my arm is not in the way. cheap enough!
