Its not, if you can solder 0.1" pin headers in a PCB, then you can make it.It's a very cool project. TBH It doesn't look too hard to solder, and I'm no skilled solderer.
The Seeeduino XIAO, is a very good device, cheap and powerful. When its asleep waiting for the alarm to go off if consumes only circa 20uA, so has no substantial impact on battery life. You do however have to remove the green power LED, but its easy to flick off with a sharp pointy knife.
I did point out to Seeeduino that they ought to sell the XIAO without a power LED on as it would make all sorts of remote sensor applications more practical, but they ignored me.
