Range difference on identical systems

Hi all
Have 2 e bikes, a Cube Nature One and a Cannondale Synapse Neo. When I put a fully charged battery in the Cube, I get Sport 54km/ Tour 71km/ Eco 125km. When I put the same battery (Bosch 500w Powertube) into the Cannondale I get Sport 55miles/Tour71 miles and Eco 129 miles - converted thats 88km, 113km and 206km respectively. Given both run the same battery and motor (Bosch Activeline) it seems a wild disparity in range. Cube is considerably heavier but even so its odd. Would appreciate any input.

I think you are telling us what the display tells you, not actual ranges you have ridden and measured.

If that is so, then it is probably just down to manufacturer specific software tweaks.

Go ride the bikes on the same route, at the same speed and see what actually happens.

Thanks for that - yes I am quoting what the display readout is and will be experimenting. I can say that a regular return route between 2 towns uses 2 bars on the Cube and 1 on the Cannondale, having said that the Cube has 5000km and the Cannondale 1000 miles (1600k?) so I expect some battery deterioration. They're different bikes. Bosch estimate the range for different types of bike. one has drop bars and rigid forks, the other has straight bars and suspension forks. What you get is down to how hard you pedal.

Range will obviously vary a huge amount depending on riding style, assistance level, hills, etc etc

The Bosch range estimator on the display only takes account of the last mile or so of riding to give its estimate. Might well say 30 miles at home (***), ride 2 miles to the top of the hill and estimate will be down to well below 20. Ride back down and it will be 35 miles. soundwave describes it accurately above.

That is also not perfect, but surprisingly good. In particular you can see the effects of different riding style, etc etc etc

(***) Actually the initial estimate will depend on the last mile of the previous ride.

One bar down means anything from only just one down to nearly two down, and two down is from just two to nearly three.

So they could be very close together!

5000km should not have taken more than about 10% off your battery range unless it has been ridden hard and to flat throughout.

My two Shimano batteries have gone down from 150km at full charge in eco on the display to 131 and 139km. They have done maybe 14,000km between them.
