They are also produced by Derby Cycles and basically the same as the Kalkhoff brand, though there are model to model specification variations. As they are being sold through dealers they are a bit higher priced than Kalkhoff, the cost of gaining local support of course.

I'm fairly certain they don't do an equivalent model to the high speed S version Kalkhoff since these aren't legal for road use here in the UK.

Member Lloyd who was once with 50cycles is now involved in the distribution of these Raleigh e-bikes and has posted some information here about them complete with some specs:

Raleigh e-bike information from Lloyd

The 18 Ah battery will be the same one that 50cycles have mentioned, either a Paansonic or Derby Cycles product, and either way applying to both brands.

I've got one (the smaller step-through frame) and it appears to be pretty much an Agattu as Flecc says, with variations in the bits and pieces like lights & tyres.

There's a pretty full spec for the Raleigh on their web pages, so you can compare and contrast there (only they don't come with Marathon+ tyres as the web site claims  )

I was just comparing the Raleigh Dover at £1799 to the Kalhoff pro connect at £1750.

The Raleigh has suspension forks and seat post, and the rest of the spec seems similar, so it seems it is slightly better value than the Kalhoff, or at least equal.
Or am I missing something.

While waiting for flecc to answer, there is just one point I would draw your attention to. Be assured, the price difference can immediately be taken out of the comparison. Recent experience tells me it's very easy to strike a deal which would reduce the Raleigh Dover to £1750. Believe me!, it's just a question of which style you prefer. ;)

The model with suspension forks and seatpost is the Agattu equivalent so the price has to compared with the Agattu price of £1595 with the suspension elements. The Raleigh difference is the selling through dealers and the local support you get that way.

Visually there seems little difference in the Agattu and basic Pro Connect, mainly the suspension elements at a glance, but that's the way they price them, superficially looking like more spec for less money. Possibly it's a quality issue.

The Raleigh branding has confused the issue since when Hilderthorpe Cycles were first bringing them in, the Raleigh Agattu equivalent was called the Leicester, the Pro Connect equivalent was called the Dover and the Tasman equivalent was called the Leicester de Luxe. Now that's been turned on it's head with the Dover name used for various models including the Agattu equivalent and the Leicester name has disappeared completely, all very confusing for consumers.

The Agattu is a little heavier, with Nexus gears. The Pro Connect is lighter, with Alfine gears, lighter wheels, better lights. It feels much more responsive than the Agattu, but the Agattu is better over rougher terrain.

Is the Agattu frame heavier as well, or is the weight difference purely down to the other components?
