Looking at the connectors on your motor, I think you have an updated version of the M400 with CanBus communication, in which case, it is not poss. to adjust settings. I believe this is a move by Bafang to increase it's European market by creating a tamperproof, closed system to compete with the likes of Bosch, Yamaha etc. The new M600 motor is the same.

As wheeliepete says, the DPC07 is available with UART and CANbus protocols. UART works with the open-programming cable. I don't know how "locked" the newer/later CANbus option is. Forum member/Manufacturer Woosh uses a variant of this motor on his Rambler dutch-style e-bike - he did comment that Bafang can "lock" systems during manufacture if that's what the e-bike maker chooses.
