Why is there a reluctance of the bike shops in the Manchester area to mend punctures on electric bikes?

Could be depending on if it's a hub drive that electrical connectors would need unplugging - and they might be protecting themselves against something going wrong & being accused of breaking (the unknown to them) drive system.

If you're having a problem can't you DIY?

That's the down side of Manchester, it is the only place in the UK like this.

It's really seen as a DIY job, like washing your car (oh carwash bad example) or cooking (oh takeaways bad example) or going shopping (oh Tesco delivery bad example).

Some saddow is now trying to get a startup in Dragons den with an app for Manchester flat bicycle tyre repairs.

Could always have a go yourself, quite satisfying really, or move to Birmingham where there is no problem.

Best to learn to do it yourself, you almost never get punctures conveniently near bike shops.
Fixing it yourself is quicker either with a good puncture outfit or carry a spare replacement tube.
You can get tubes in a horseshoe shape which means you don't need to remove the wheel though you would need to cut the existing tube to remove it.
Dave.

The one thing that always amazes me is how manufacturers of puncture repair kits never include a key or 'spanner' for the valve.
Even those posh multi tools rarely have them.
Two weeks ago, we opened 3 new puncture kits at my sailing club in an effort to find something to remove the valve, no joy.

Back on topic.
fixing a puncture is a basic requirement for all cyclists, join a Sky ride or a similar organised group ride and your expected to carry enough kit to fix a flat (and know how to use it)
Alternatively, wear a short skirt and smile a lot;) someone's bound to help if not from attraction then maybe out of sympathy :)

Funnily enough, after the sailing club debacle, I now have 10 of those Schrader valve dust caps!

Not sure this would work every time for us middle age blokes.

Plus its another thing to carry on the bike.

I think that what Condor is trying to do but in Manchester is struggling.

Is it a hub bike?

As I can not see why a crank motor bike would be any different to a standard bike.
