Hi to all. Would you say that wearing a motorbike jacket for protection is abit OTT when i comes to riding an ebike on the U.K roads?

Motorcycle jackets were too heavy, or I might wear one cycling. I would have scraped an elbow if I hadn't been wearing a padded leather jacket, when I collided with a badger and broke my wrist. I did scrape a knee during the badger incident, but I'd draw a line at donning leather trousers. When I do get back on my bike, I may well do so wearing BMX style lightweight elbow and knee pads.

Skateboard wrist supports are good, but they would interfere with your grip and control.

Poss looking at a duel layer one so that the inner layer comes out for summer riding and without the added protective plates in, so maybe like a normal coat but with an added teflon surface.

You're right, skateboard wrist supports look too chunky to get a decent grip. Maybe someone will make something a little thinner and more flexible for cycling use, that provides strong enough protection.

I wonder how heavy that is? The trouble with motorcycle jackets is that they are usually a slim-fit, restricting movement, but if you go up a size the chest and shoulders are too large. Otherwise I might use one. I'd definitely try it on for size first in a physical shop, before ordering the same thing online cheaper.
