Hi I recently purchased an e-co electric bike from sports direct and it was delivered yesterday. I don't know anything about bicycle parts and the manual isn't particularly helpful. Does anyone know where I can get this bike assembled in Manchester? As cheap as possible please. I've been quoted £40 from halfords and £50 from evans cycles :(

Ask a friend.
it'll take about 30 minutes to put the bike together, mostly common sense.
Toolwise, you need a posidriv screwdriver, spanners (4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm) and allen keys (4mm, 5mm, 6mm). Pound shops and Aldi usually have them.
post pictures of your bike as it is at present - we'll guide you.

Hi trex, thank you so much for replying.

To be quite honest, I lack common sense when it comes to those sort of things. Even the tyres need pressurising and I have no clue on how to do that. Obviously I'd have to buy a pump... Also, recovering from anorexia, I don't have the strength to use the tools to assemble the bicycle. I think it would be a lot easier and safer to get a professional to assemble it for me.

Have you tried the neighbours? these folders usually only need unwrapping, putting the front wheel and pedals on.
If you can't find anyone, then you need a mobile bike mechanic who will come to your house and do it for you for about £30. It won't take him more than 15 minutes.
Try googling 'mobile bike mechanic manchester', ask how much before inviting the guy around. You'll need a pump (£10) and a puncture repair kit (£1). I buy these at Wilkinson.

I've never really spoken to any of the neighbours :( Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try searching on google now :)

Thank you. I'll give them a call tomorrow :)

Although it doesn't say how much they charge for assembly. The bicycle does not even need full assembly. Everything looks assembled, other than the saddle and the area in the middle where it's meant to fold. The tyres need pressurising. Also obviously I would need them to check the bicycle to see if it's safe to ride. I hope they don't charge me more than £20 :(

Please don't waste money on something I'm sure you could do yourself. As you say everything is more or less assembled and what's left requires a minimum of technical knowledge and ability - this is coming from someone who is technically challenged!

Their minimum call-out fee appears to be £20.00.

There's also this: -

Unfortunately I'm the most technically challenged person in the history of mankind. I've spent a good 2 hours trying to figure things out but I just can't do it :(
Thanks for the link but again it doesn't really make sense to me. Plus it's a different bike in the video. Thank you anyway. I really appreciate your help :)

If you're going to run a bike then you really need to purchase a pump and learn how to use it anyway.

What are you going to when you get a puncture - take it to the bike shop every time?

If you can bring the bike to me in Blackpool I'll assemble it for free and I'll show you basic bike maintenance at the same time.

Hi amigafan, thank you for your kindness :) but unfortunately I don't drive so I have no means of getting to Blackpool. Your kindness is appreciated nonetheless.

I do realise that I'm going to have to learn bike maintenance at some point. I'm hoping to take a bike maintenance course soon :)

As long as it's not extortionate, a few quid to someone local may not be wasted:
O/P obviously has no ability whatever to deal with any problems that crop up, possibly when away from home; so it might well be fortuitous to have someone who already knows the bike & circumstances, prepared to come out.

Good to see offers of free help from forum members.;)

It might be a relatively simple task to someone who has done it all before, but if you haven't there is the fear of getting it wrong and damaging the bike or even worse yourself.o_O
