Hi there, Hope someone can enlighten me and wonder if anyone else has experienced same problem..
So I purchased only the other day a stealth 1000w cyclotricity bike..
all was well until I set about derestricting the bike by attempting to go into the advanced settings..
following the de-restriction steps..

powered on battery and then lcd
kept both up and down buttons pressed down.
screen went off

subsequent to this, the lcd will only remain powered up so long as i have the power button on the lcd pushed down..

i'm being sent a new lcd in the meantime.. but i'm wondering just what the heck had happened; and if anyone has managed to fix the issue. *a very helpful cyclotricity staff member ran me through on the phone trying to isolate the issue, disconnecting and reconnecting all the wires, but it appears to be a new problem.

thankyou in advance.

When you press the power button on the LCD, it provides power to the display's CPU and also tells the CPU in the display to switch on a MOSFET, which then connects the power a return wire to the controller to power it and keeps the display's CPU powered. The second time you press it, it tells the CPU to switch off the MOSFET, so the LCD and controller are switched off. I would guess that either the MOSFET blew because there was a wrong connection at the controller, or there's some random problem on the display's printed circuit board. A new display should sort it. Normally, you can only damage things by connecting them wrongly. The display only sends data to the controller, so it can't damage it.

Very comprehensively described d8veh. Sounds reasonable enough! Thankyou.. let's hope it's just a buggered LCD. I shall update the post as to what happened with new LCD... fingers crossed.

One common cause to check: Some people, when fitting kits, pull the cable ties too tight, which can damage or short out wires in the cable. That could be anywhere between the display and the controller. If it's been done downstream of the connector, you'd need a new cable or controller, depending where the damage is and how it's all connected.

I wonder how much profit is wiped out by this fault because it only shows up as miscelleneous faulty parts, which are normlly replaced under warranty. I expect that there's a few guilty people reading this right now.

Hi..i am a new user here. As per my knowledge the MOSFET is not working because there was a wrong connection at the controller, or there's some random problem on the display's printed circuit board. A new display should sort it. Normally, you can only damage things by connecting them wrongly. The display only sends data to the controller, so it can't damage it.
