Private message notifications

Is there any way that the moderators can taylor the site, so that notification of a PM is highlighted more clearly when a member logs in?
I feel that communication with members on a personal level is slow, because half the time they don't know a new message is there.

It's caused me to miss that I have mail as well, in fact I'm not aware there is any notification?

I've just randomly checked from time to time.

Notifications are shown at the top of the page just under the purple logo bar.

It will change to a different colour when you have unread messages/likes etc.

Thanks Russ, another thing learnt about the site. I must admit I hadn't gone looking for a notification facility.
