I see that Onbike has increased the cost of the Neo 29er by £110.00. To much interest?

Shouldn't this be the other way round, a stronger Pound makes imports cheaper.

At the moment the trend is in the opposite direction with Sterling currently in decline against the € and $.

Thats what you get when you vote in a bunch of amateurs to run the economy, better to have had a unpopular technocrat than the clueless gang of toffs that we have been lumbered with
ps the Pound is weakening against the Euro

Hi Croxden,
Unfortunately the distributors have increased the prices of the entire range from Emotion, due to the strength of the Pound vs Euro -this applies to all new bikes ordered as of a few days ago.
Martin, surely you mean the weakness of the £ against the Euro would cause a price rise. If you look at the currency rates of £ v Euro over the last 2 years the range has been between 1.15 to 1.25,so currently at 1.16 it is in the lower of the range, unless BH think it is going to weaken soon.
I have one Xenion 700 left from our venture into BH bikes, still priced at £1689.60-must be very cheap now. Not sure why this one was left when all the others flew away?

It works like this, not just bikes but everything:

When the pound is weak against foreign currencies, the cost of imported goods goes up. Clearly this is because you have to spend more pounds to buy the same article.

When the pound strengthens against foreign currencies, the cost of imported goods remains the same. This is because you now have to spend less pounds to buy the same goods and the stench of money is far too overwhelming to allow the seller to pass some of the saving onto the customer.

When the pound weakens to its normal exchange rate, from an unusually high value, the cost goes up again. It's rather like a ratchet mechanism which prevents the cost to the customer from ever falling due to fluctuating exchange rates. And this is because a, headline weak pound, is far too much of a golden opportunity to put prices up, to miss.

That's just the way it is.

That's a bit mean! Gideon (for that is his true first name, not George) did help out at the Tuck shop during break time...

We always buy our foreign currency when the pound is strong and generally have averaged 1.62 USD for each of our Juicy Bike Pounds for the last 12 months. It makes a difference of about £34 in the RRP per bike over the current rate of 1.56 USD, which helps keep our price down. Not a lot, but we do our best to stay competitive.

As the Euro Crisis comes to pass, inevitably, the price of European bikes will rise, so get them while they're cheap.

Not sure about the euro bombing...its all about interest rates, you can easily get 7% return on any euro savings account, over 9% in Greece and Spain....in the UK you are lucky to get 3%....as long as the Germans keep supporting the euro then money will flood into those currencies, but if Merkel gets fed up with the southern europeans then get out fast of the euro.
Its not the pound weakening, its holding its strength against the US Dollar, its the Euro strengthening but one more big banking crisis in southern europe then get the flac hats out!!!!

Surely the price of most E-bikes should be controlled by the Pound v Chinese YUAN Renminbi rate not the Euro rate, or is it just a excuse to put up the prices as Tillson explained

Sorry Jazper that is not the situation when buying from the chinese. All export parts are priced in US Dollar or Euro or Pound Sterling(rarely). Any money going into China goes via the Bank of China,ie the chinese government wealth fund, this is then handed to the supplier in RMB,at a rate determined by the chinese government. That is the mechanism by which the chinese government control their exchange rate and the reason the government has bucket loads of cash.
One of my suppliers was hurt by this currency manipulation so I offered to pay him directly in RMB....much as that was attractive to him,he explained that he would spend a long time in a chinese jail and I would never get another visa into China, deal qickly forgotten.

Still available here at old prices (and interest free credit)

BH-Emotion Electric Bikes | Leisure Lakes Bikes
Unfortunately not every outlet will have updated their sites with reference to the new range of Emotions just yet,but the bikes will only be available at the new prices.

We were informed first of the changes as we took receipt of the new demonstrators last week from the distributors...there is also a couple of weeks wait on delivery i'm afraid on the very newest models...and the Volt folders are not yet available:(
Hopefully they will be in stock before the summer as they look superb.
