I don't know about cold fusion but going on MIT's past breakthrough press releases their opinion is a load of pie in the sky rubbish to try and get more funding.

Exactly Mussels, same as NASA, same as all blue sky research universities, same as medical research charities etc. All produce a constant stream of announcements of potential breakthroughs to keep funds flowing in.

There is an interesting article about Horace on wikipaedia . Apparently he left £150, 000 in his will . A lot of money then , but less than you would expect if he had won two million .

Probably from his earnings, it was no doubt lucrative, judged from how widely he was known.

Having looked him up (amazing the subjects this forum gets you interested in!), it seems he didn't actually charge up-front for his Method, but took a rake-off from any customers who won. Because so many fell for his inducements, thousands of entries meant plenty of (probably smallish) wins, of which he received a cut and therefore a steady income. I assume the punters' entries were submitted through him, so he could take his cut if they won anything.

That's a rather different thing of course. I don't believe for a moment that anything like everything has been discovered, my view on my own knowledge is that for every one thing I know, the number of things I don't know is nearly infinite.

But I know enough not to be caught by the likes of Rossi. This sort of subject reminds me of what Oscar Wilde once said:

"I'm not young enough to know everything".

Looks like the Status Quo has been maintained then ?Ha Status Quo ,Rossi did ya see what i did there ? ....mmm oh well please yourselves.!
