hi all, I've just bought a powabyke shopper and I think the batteries need replacing but I'm not sure. after a full charge the bike pulls away and reaches speed but only stays there for a few minutes then the motor begins to wind down and reaches a steady (very weak and slow) hum. advice please :)

Yes, the batteries are knackered. You need three 12v SLA ones like these:

Your original ones are 14aH, but the above ones are a bit cheaper, and they're supposed to be the same size. It might be a good idea to measure yours before ordering just to be sure.

You have to unscrew the battery case to get at the batteries.

Thankyou, I've already taken the battery cover off and they have 15ah printed on, will I lose power by moving to the 12ah? also, I've taken the motor apart and cleaned the dust produced by the bushes and re lubricates the moving parts. there is signs of the turning plate grinding against the bush mount plate, is this normal?

Or upgrade to lithium batteries. More range and power for a price
