Is it just me or does it annoy anyone else when people start threads in completely the wrong sections of the site
Really how hard is it ?

I don't notice when it happens since I enter via the Forums dropdown menu and select New Posts. That shows me what's appeared since my last entry, without making it obvious which forum they are in.

You're right though, the Beach Bikes and Gravel Bikes threads shouldn't be in The Charging Post which is for subjects other than e-bikes. Haven't noticed any others offhand.

Not as much as people using the American term "donor bike" when it is obvious to all English language speakers that the bike is hosting a kit not the opposite...

I know, I just posted a reply in there, I have learnt to switch off my inner censor... :p

Hmmm! I do the same as Flecc, so I never take notice of what section things are in.

I like it that things get mixed up because it gives a sort of cross-fertilisation of ideas. Also it could get a bit awkward in some circumstances. Say a guy posts in the electric bike section that he's struggling with his unpowered bike, so he wants some ideas for which electric bike to get. It would be bad if one couldn't suggest that he tried a conversion kit because you could only post that in the kits section, or you could get the vice versa situation.

A while ago we had the fun prevention police who were worried that innocent members would get corrupted by guys who were fitting high powered kits to their bikes, so they wanted them banished to a special section where nobody could accidentally see them. Maybe it just made them jealous or feel inadequate with their under-powered bikes. People complain about the strangest things!

Thats not really an issue thou because its related

Off the top of my head , Its people who post stuff in the classifieds when there not selling anything
Theres others in site announcements feedback and support with people asking about ebike rental ,battery connection issues, replacement sensors etc which are clearly nothing to do with the mechanics of the site which is what its for
Surely without some order the forum would become unuseable especially searching for info which is how many people end up here in the first place

I must admit i do have ocd so everything has a place and im very methodical with what i do for a living because i have to be which also doesnt help
But still how hard is it to look at the sections in the forum and put your posts in the right area , it doesnt take a genius to figure it out .

I for one enjoy the free for all aspect of this forum. Thread hijacking is rife and seemingly acceptable and I don't think anybody uses the search facility, judging by the endless repeat questions that are asked. I also only use the new post drop down, so don't really notice.

Life's to short to worry to much about wrong posts.
As for moderation I thought we were all grown up's, some times there is a bit of naughtiness usually often caused by newer posters or spammers who have lost their sense of humour.
A shame really because Smarty pants was quite funny in away and then he disappeared when he couldn't win the argument.

If you want to search for anything on the forum, use Google. it finds it straight away. The forum search never worked.
