Hi Stevie
We've loaned bikes to three forces, North Yorkshire, Somerset and Avon, and Derbyshire. From each force we received a detailed report on the bikes and how they functioned. Somerset and Avon compared and contrasted with two other makes and chose ours following their testing.
Individual officers from Bristol went on to purchase their own Juicy Bikes (all Sports models). We have also been providing them to South Manchester officers under their Cycle to Work Scheme.
We've learned a great deal from these trials and made changes to the bikes as a consequence of the feedback. Our whole range has benefitted, but the Police only purchase the Sport model, no upgrades, standard everything.
As it happens, they were in the workshop on Tuesday this week discussing knobbly tyres and full mudguards, whether silver or blueberry is the better colour to suit their livery stickers, how many bikes they can buy for the cost of a Panda Car and to arrange another order - this time for plain-clothes officers to use. They're even thinking about the step-throughs...
The old Pedelec site used to host one of the early reports, but since the change to the new site this appears to have been lost. I can dig it out again if you would like to see it.
Thanks very much for your interest.
