Hi there,
Have been a member here for a while but not active. However a couple of weeks ago my wifes Bosch gen1 motor was causing a problem.
I thankfully diagnosed and fixed the problem which was the pawls sticking.Unfortunately when refitting all and testing I had no motor assistance, although walk assist functioned.
I disassembled and on inspection discovered that the pcb pictured was possibly damaged.
After much internet browsing I realised that no new electrical parts are available.
I then browsed Pedelecs and came across Performance Iine Bearings.
After some discussion they thought they had one in stockalthough untested. Well , it arrived quickly and thankfully it worked!
Big thanks to Performance line for all the help and to this forum for facilitating.
I thought that we would have to either buy a new motor or new bike. A new bike was promptly offered by our local Bosch expert as for them to supply a new motor would be around £800. on further chat they don’t work to component levels!
The missus is a happy bunny and I’ve got loads of brownie points and the satisfaction that with help I have managed to dodge the throw away!
Thanks again and ride safe

Lucky yes, but is it the case that Bosch do not have serviceable electronics for retail or is it just that my wife’s gen1 is deemed obsolete?

My understanding from others here in Germany and some Pedelecers too, is that Bosch does not supply ANYONE with spare parts. Not even the LBS where you might have bought the bike originally.
I could say, that its the primary "Single point of failure with Bosch e-bikes", but there are others and the list is quite long.
I am really happy for you that the had a replacement available for you. Brilliant!
regards
Andy

As Ben said the part will be from a defunct unit and scavenged, motors that go to Bosch aren't returned but exchanged for another.

So I’ve been fortunate to have been able to affect a repair, due to the people who appreciate the real value of what they have and do not discard.
I’m very much ‘old school’ and therefore don’t throw much away, just in case!
Is there a register within Pedelecs forum of people that may have spare parts available, and therefore maybe as with me affect a repair?

I suspect there could be a few laid up Bosch bikes around Europe that no longer work that might be out of warranty, out of warranty owners can face quite a repair bill.
Any bike in the eyes of an owner is to them worth a lot of money but in reality it is only of use for spares repairs and as a complete bike not very valuable.

That was a hard but very truthful statement in my estimation.
The truth is always the best way to deal with anything.
