Hi there. Have just paid for a New battery from a local cycle shop having had issues with my wife's Pendleton. After a fair bit of waiting and third party involvement on the shops behalf I have a new battery.

Battery has been charged and the on board display shows %100 but it's not engaging the motor onto the bike. It's showing as low power on the display and the walk button isn't working either.

Battery seems a little shorter than the last one involved as well.

Any clues would be greatly appreciated

a multimeter volt reading of the battery voltage will indicate its health when fully charged your battery should read close to 42v (if a '36v' battery). the led indicator is just that and not accurate. if 41v or less fully charged - return it.. or at least try charging again..

Photos are much clearer than descriptions:) your display, and controller box and its connections especially if accessible.

After confirming a full healthy battery check all the connections are firmly established, especially the main motor cable if 'waterproof' julet connections ensure all are pushed home all the way to the line indicator.

cable ties can cut into cables and make shorts if too tight, check all on your bike.
A common problem often overlooked is bent or damaged battery contacts..
