Hi folks,

How many of you would find it useful to be able to access the forum via your mobile (specifically iPhone/Android) ?

We will shortly be moving across to the latest vBulletin software and they are releasing a Mobile Suite next week which allows forum owners to provide a customised application on the above phones.

Here is a brief example:

FlyerTalk Mobile for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)

Hi Steve,

I can relate to that!

It's just another feature we can provide...so if you are out on the road and need a Pedelecs fix :D it should be a little easier than using a browser.

I look forward to that, I'm finding this version hard to use on a PC as well.
I'll try the mobile app but find that newer vBulletin versions work well on the built in Android browser anyway.

I tried installing the vBulletin app but when I registered it says my email address is invalid.

There is an option underneath I think that says continue without logging in so you can have a nosey at it.

Yes, yes, yes please! Go with the best: Tapatalk is free for you to implement, many other forums use it, it's very easy for users to access the forum, it's fast and easy to read....

Tapatalk - Forum App on the iPhone, Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7 (WP7), Nokia, and BlackBerry for vBulletin, phpBB, IPBoard, SMF and more

Flyertalk is for airline travelers it's not a general forum access app ;)
The Flyertalk app is probably running a beta so vBulletin can show what it looks it.

If we adopt it, then there will be a dedicated Pedelecs app for iOS and Android.

I'm leaning towards vBulletin at the moment. This is because the front-end of this site will be completely replaced as we will be using the CMS from vBulletin 4. As the mobile app integrates with the CMS and Blog too, this is something Tapatalk doesn't have (currently).

Interestingly 6% of our traffic is from iPhone/Android. Currently 4.5% iPhone, 1.5% Android.

I access Pedelecs through my iPhone 90% of the time, so via an App would be welcome. I've not had any problems using the browser to view this current version of the site.

It should be OK as it is Google's Android store. I'll post the screenshots here though if you'd prefer not to follow the link.

Russ, vBulletin 4.x is now supported, even 3.6.x so you could trial it on the existing forum.....

I like others access this site fine using a browser (IE or Opera) on my phone. I don't think I'd even bother with an app because it works so well in a browser.

Hi NRG,

I am leaning towards vBulletin's app as this will integrate with the full site. The new site will include a new front-end with news, articles etc along with blogs.

Also I think you have to pay for the Tapatalk app on the iPhone? Whereas the vB one is free.

It's probably no hardship to enable both, that way members can choose whatever they feel most comfortable with.

Sounds good, I use TapaTalk a lot for many other forums so its neat for me to have them all accessible from within one App but I understand your approach with the VB app....looking forward to it!

I'd like to try the vb option, I've seen tapatalk appear on other forms but not seen anyone enthusiastic about it. It seems OK for reading with but not much else so I decided not to bother paying for it.

Works well IMHO, you can see picture attachments easily and posting is straight forward. You can browse logged in or as a guest, has all the normal forum functions but without the formatting problems you get using a handheld.

I also 90% of the time access this website on my phone.
Its only a nokia 5800 and uses opera mini to view sites. So I guess anything like this would be a plus.

Hi NRG,

I've installed Tapatalk so for those of you who already have the App then you can find Pedelecs in the following section:

- Sports
- Running and Biking

If you click by Date you'll see us at the top.

It's just the Forum that is supported until the new site is up.

The Tapatalk App is currently £1.79 UKP.

We will be buying the vBulletin Mobile Suite when it is released on Tuesday so we will start using that as soon as the new site is up. This app will be a free download from the iTunes/Android store.
