Considering how little you use your car Flecc, and the fact it's out of sight when not being used makes you very unlucky to have had your number cloned. Someone must have been looking fror the right car on one of the rare ocassions when you were using yours.

I'm deeply suspicious that the car dealership were inadvertently involved. The car was a showroom pre-reg for the usual trade reasons in November, but plates not made until I bought it in early January. That circumstance leaves quite a period when someone could have extracted the number and used it, and it could be that the whole business of pre-registering gives a handy source of numbers of cars which won't be on the road for a while, sometimes several months. Maybe time it was stopped given the prevalence of this cloning offence now.

Yes, I did wonder something like that when I realised it was your new car that was involved. Considering that it's quite a rare model a dealership would be the obvious place for a crook to look for a number.
