I picked up my bike yesterday, Kalkhoff C11 Step through, and this morning I have been on a ride that I used to do; so up some very familiar hills that I have not ridden a bike up for the last 2 years. And I went on my own! It was a 7 mile bike ride, I needed a rest after 5 miles, which is OK. I arrived home and was able to get off the bike without the need for assistance.

I have a big grin on my face! It just feels so good to be able to do this again. I thought I would have to stop riding my bike...well I have had to stop riding THAT bike...I've turned the clock back and found freedom again and am so delighted.

I have to thank all the members of this forum who supported me through the ups and downs of decision making...I just wish I didn't just need 1 bike from 1 supplier! You never know though my partner John may feel he needs one eventually so that he can keep up with me...watch this space!:D

Good for you - that sounds really sweet.

My journey to ending up with an electric bike was a near-fatal alcohol related crash that got me a long ban - nobody else involved I might quickly point out - just me and a very fast car and a country road and an X-mas eve drinking session with a good friend - all poor excuses but thats the facts. And sometimes - in fact quite a lot of the time - I am actually glad it happened - electric bikes really are f****ng great - I am continually amazed more people dont have them. Yesterday I was pedalling through solid London traffic going much much faster than anybody in a car - sometimes apparetnly bad things turn out good is about all I can say.

I think all potential ebikers should be warned about the Big Grin factor that goes with every ride!

Glad you're enjoying yourself and hope the grin gets wider as the rides get longer!
Tom.

In my view, that's a good choice of machine Lynne. It's not the cheapest but nonetheless represents decent value for money.

When I look at the Agattus, I always come away with the thought: "What's not to like?" There aren't many places an Agattu can't go and it has sufficient grunt to carry your shopping, whether in Pannier bags or on a trailer. It's a Panasonic crank-drive which means a delightfully smooth power-delivery system that will pull you up just about any hill you're likely to encounter.

I'm sure you'll continue to enjoy the bike even after the initial novelty has worn off

Regards and happy cycling,
Indalo

Just how i feel. Took my hopper out today for 24 mile spin (about 20% under my own steam), and must admit thoroughly enjoyed it. Its over 45 years since i rode a bike and was8 stone lighter:rolleyes:. However my backside didn't appreciate it as much. Perked me up the rest of the day. Only the fifth time out on it - mainly shortish runs.
Do love all those cycle lanes.

Keep it up - I was four stones heavier when I first dragged the bike back out of retirement and for the last year with the leccy foot, the weight is still coming down.

Yes whatever reason people choose to ride a bike with a battery it seems that positive outcomes are to be expected. I am most definitely a convert! In fact I'm just about to set off for my daily pedal right now....

Brilliant! There's a pedelecs member who put in 200km a week on an Agattu C11 and his doctor took him off his Type II diabetes treatments within a couple of months. All sorts of benefits - mood enhancement not the least of them!
