Pedal recommendations

I've got an annoying click that's rotational and I've traced it (wasn't hard) to my right pedal. Took it off and it seems the ball bearing fairy has been and replaced the bearings with gravel. So given the plethora of pedals, at a first glance on the web, I wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Flat pedals. I've got size 14 plates if that makes any difference. Current pedals are very much like these:

I recently bought a pair of these for my road bike. they're light and strong:

The reason i bought them was because I had exactly the ones in that ebay advert above, and one broke. The outboard threaded part on the main spindle sheared off, so the pedal fell off and all the balls with it. It was not easy pedalling on just the remaining part of the spindle. Luckily, it was mainly down-hill and only a few miles.

On the 26" wheeled bike I did have pedal strike issues a couple of times, on the 28" wheeled bike never. My foot has never slipped even in the wet. I have cycled bare foot (I know it is dangerous...) and with waders (please don't ask...) and all sorts of shoes in between.

Did I say they are huge? In any case very comfortable and secure and... within your budget!

I don't blame you. People seem to be paying out of their asses, for lightweight plastic pedals, when it's the ebike that takes the strain with the weight.

Here's a tip I picked up. If your original basic pedals are not gripping your soles, file them to a point and they will.



Why pay extra for lightweight components? You may as well start wearing lycra.

That sent shudders through my whole body as I remembered the state of my shins when I was using normal pedals... Just from walking alongside the bike!

I used to play footie at School, and you should've seen the state of my shins. Pops and mam couldn't afford to buy me shin pads so my shins looked like something in a butchers window.

Talking of which, I was once told that Water Disperser 40 (Rocket Fuel) is not actually the best because it has a water base, and while it does the trick in the immediacy, the damp will come back quicker.
