The Q128 works better at 48v. That means you need four, which is a lot of weight. Also range will be poor.

I think I'm going to struggle to raise the funds for a 48v system. Is there a 36v wheel that will do the job. If at all possible I need it to come in at or close to £300 all in with battery and postage.

I don't think it's possible, Matthew.
A kit for the ordinary bikes costs already in the region of £500. Even if you substitute the Lithium battery for a set of SLAs, it will only bring it down to around £400.
If you buy from bmsbattery, it is a bit cheaper but there is still Paypal exchange rate, freight, duty and VAT. You may save £30 but there is still a question mark on support before, during and after installation.

Where do people buy from that is uk based then, I'm not sure how comfortable I am spending that kind of money in China anyway.

then there are Chinese outlets based in Germany.
then there are web companies.
and then there are web companies that are members of this forum.
The amount of support you get is best when bought from traders on this forum.

he converted my wifes PDQ trike we got of ebay because the batteries and motor are from the dark ages.

at download festival it got up to about 20-25 mph on the race track and with the lithium battery lasts for ages.
even better with the tyre i foudn thats better than the one PDQ used.
took afew tweaked the throttle was the only tricky bit as the plugs are male not femal i( or other way round ) but some tweaks and purchases online solved that with his help.

For future reference, PDQs standard hubs are single clutch and 150 watts.

They can be fitted out with 4QDs porter controller range, with either a compatible hall throttle or a 5k pot magura twist grip throttle.
You can also order them with a modified DNO heatsink, ( a DNO is a simular controller to the Porter, but with reverse) to fit the original Scientific Genetics control box.
You with also need a motor noise supression kit for RFI to protect the new controller.

I've just got two kits for both of my PDQs for only £245!
