Pashley Tube Rider

Hi

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.

I have a Pashley Tube Rider which I love and would love to convert it to electric. I live near Bath. Does anyone know what kit would work on my bike? I have seen that Revolution Works (Revo) do a kit but not sure if the battery would fit anywhere due to the unusual shaped frame.

The Revos is a friction drive and will wear out the rear tyre very quickly.
The Revos 2 will be better then the original and quieter as it is sensored but think really not along term ebike solution.

Show us some pics of the bike.

Here is the bike. The battery with the Revo conversion usually goes on the lower frame and attaches to the bolt holes for a bottle. Haven't got that on this bike The bike has hub brakes so the Swytch conversion is not an option unless I put caliper brakes on the front or not have a front brake at all. Anyone know of a conversion which would fit. It's only for leisure riding.

Friction drives really are naff with really high tyre wear, as Neal says, and low grip in the wet. Also Bath has some mean hills around, not sure how it would fare. Drum brakes prohibits a hub motor, so the only possibility is a mid mount. Can't see detail but your bottom bracket looks unusual, so not sure if that will work. Try asking Tony from Woosh or this guy, he's done a lot of mid motors - https://www.brightonebikes.co.uk/
Lack of bottle mounts is not a problem as you simply drill a hole and put a rivnut in, although a rack mount may work for you.

Don't go brakeless on the front - it does 80% of the braking AND would make the bike illegal, it has to have two sources of braking.
There are work arounds for brake sensors but depends on the kit.

The guy in London a couple of years ago went to jail for 18 months after running a women down who walked out in front of him, he only had one brake.

A mid drive kit would be ideal looking at the BB design.

The friction drive is no good with mud guard fitted so dry running only unless you like to have wet bum and back. The Revos works well in the wet, watch the vid's of the Brizzol 10% incline wet ride.

Thanks Neal, I have emailed Revolution Works and will see what they say. I am only doing short leisure rides but we do have a few hills to say the least!! I could cut off half the mudguard which would make room for the unit and the battery maybe would go on the bottom frame with a DIY fitting?

They will have a test bike, ask them & arrange a visit to Brizzy to try it out.
The 208wh battery is good for 25 -28 miles.

BB is the bottom bracket which contains the bottom bracket/crank axle for the pedals/crank arms, your designed one looks excellent and perfect I would say for any mid drive kit.
There will be a few on here who would like a frame like that because of it's styling/design, its a good looking bike.

What is that on the seat tube , a pump ?
Are there any frame fixings/rive nuts their?
A lightweight battery could go on the rack.

Yes that's a small pump on the seat tube using the bolt holes already there. I had a look on Brighton Bikes website and I think I'll be able to have a midmounted unit plus the rack battery or maybe I could fix a battery where the pump is?
I love the bike, its such a nice design and easy for an old bugger like me to ride (5 speed Sturmey Archer) with the comfy Brooks saddle!

The bolts fixings are probably M5 so you could fit a small battery or bottle battery there, even if the battery base plate holes were wrong you can re drill most base plate sso that one would fit to allow the battery also to fit.

The negative about the Revos is ruining your nice mudguard to fit it.

Your pump you can use velcro strap and fit is on the top or bottom tube.

This bottle battery is 310mm overall length and is good for 30 miles or more.

I bought the bike (it is mint), off Gumtree for an absolute song 3 months ago just before the craze for bikes started because of the lockdown. I would have loved the olive drab Parabike but they are very hard to find second hand. I just love the design and they are made in Stratford upon Avon, so British too! You'd be amazed how many people in our village stop and say how much they love the colours though!!
I think I will go for a Bafang mid unit with a battery on the carrier as it wouldn't spoil the aesthetics of that lovely frame. The bottle battery is too long for the seat post I think. I'll check it.

Well, I am about to get my Tube Rider converted but the only battery available with the kit at present is a 7aH (252wH). Generally speaking is this ok for 15/20 miles with some smallish hills.
I presume if I am riding on the flat I can turn the motor off and it prolongs the life?

Yes, my 208wh battery manages up to 28 miles with no assist above 25km/h.
