i know its cheaper to have it sent from half way round the world for half the price than pop down the local supermarket and buy one.

That is not what I would call a dirty chain. And that cleaner doesn't have the opposing bristle brushes that mine has to scrub in-between the links..

I'm going to try that idea this weekend with the wifes best new toothbrush, I will clean it before putting it back though, I'm not all bad.
I have a couple of the PT cleaners and they do a good job. If you end up getting one, I recommend collecting the dirty used degreaser into a clear yogurt pot, when you've done it a few times and the yogurt pot is getting full leave for another week or so you will find you have a yogurt pot full of clean degreaser ready to re-use with all the crud sunk to the bottom.

Is that stand any good? I'd only be wanting it for lifting the rear wheel when cleaning etc.

Its a just tad wobbly with a heavy ebike on it but its just great for using the chain cleaner or lubing. Use it a lot and glad I bought it, but no good for taking the wheel out or doing anything major. SW will probably find one for £2.35 if you ask nicely.

i just have one of the cheap 25 quid stands that will be on sale at lidl there about the same price on ebay new.

I have a different one, but does the same job. Its just a pain getting it out and messing with it for just a lube up before or after a ride. I usually end up not bothering so bought the cheapy axle stand thing just for the lubing.. Its just a case of lifting up the back end and dropping the stays onto the little stand.

Well, until daveboy came along with his embarrassingly simple solution I was about to suggest to myself to turn the cleaner around so it fits the other way, and pedal forwards. But daveboys solution has destroyed what tiny bit of intelligence I had .

I don't have a torx head on my chain ring but i sure I can shove something into one of the holes..

Use a cable tie

1) Throw away Park Tool chain cleaning device.

2) Remove chain from bike.

3) Soak chain in a bath of your favourite cleaner.

4) Dry chain & re lubricate.

5) Fit chain back onto bike.

Not sure if this one is, but these things are re-usable.

Picked up the Lidl chain cleaner today. With the Mic-Off drivetrain cleaner it did a good job of cleaning my chain. A little bit messy with a few splashes but its great for the £5 price.

Oh, and E-Wheels suggestion of using a cable tie around the chainring guard and pedal worked perfectly for rotating the chain backwards, though i'm sure rotating it forward would have also worked as the brushes spin both ways.

Wastes a lot of water and electricity just for one chain. So probably best to wait until after dinner.
