Just found this group! I had a pacemaker fitted last April, age 69, fit, doing 2500 hilly road miles pa. 34 pulse, irregular heartbeat. Subsequent cardioversion for atrial fibrillation. Wsrned by surgeon not to do continuous strenous exercise. Not been on a bike since. Is an ebike the answer to my desperate desire to ride again?

you could try a peddle assist bike like what bosch ect use but you still have to peddle and not need much force to get going.
or you can get a bike with a throttle from here but use a hub motor.

also less damage to the bank account ;)

I, m 67, had 2 cardio versions and 2 catheter heart ablations. Heart been back in sinus rhythm since last November. On usual meds incase it reverts back.
I, m doing roughly 70 miles per week off road around Peak District, with about 5000 ft climbing,on Giant Fathom E2. Only use highest setting. My consultant insisted I keep cycling but not to push it too hard and stop if chest has any signs of pain. Have got Garmin Fenix watch which records all GPS data and all heart stats.(set it to vibrate if I exceed 160 bpm). It also gives a score for training effect (aerobic and anaerobic) which is a perfect way to make sure I don't over do things.
With bike, watch, fair bit of relatively easy work and lots of fun I, ve got my Vo2 upto 40 and training age down to 47.
Check with your consultant to give his thoughts but I suspect emtb has been a life saver for me. Bought my first around 5 years ago when AF was at its worst.
Good luck.

I'm 71 with AF - had cardio versions and catheter heart ablation and on the meds. I do around 70 miles a week on my Volt Pulse, admittedley no off roads just cycle paths. No problems
Well well, same age and history of AF as me and I'm just getting over the first ablation as I write and can't wait to get back on the bike - now where's my battery charger........

@Zlatan - I know that sometimes a 2nd ablation is needed - how long after your first ablation did it become apparent that a 2nd was needed? PM me if you don't want to 'go public' on this.

Cheers, B4t

Neither cardio version or ablation worked for me - the doc was considering another ablation but decided to try flecainide 4/5 years ago. Only very occasionally do I get any heart rhythym problems say evry 3/4 months and then only for a day. As it happens today is that day !!!!!!
