Finding my (electric) wheels

Hi all
I'll be receiving my e mtb tomorrow evening and have a charity 3 day off road event the next day- a little last minute I know!

Questions:
What lock is best to buy? something lightweight and has an alarm system inbuilt? recommendations
House insurance won't cover it, whats the best alternative?
Would like to add a throttle and derestrict. Have found a good derestrict video on youtube, but not how to add the throttle?
Apart from bike tool and spare tyre/repair kit/pump, any other kit associated to ebikes I should be taking with me?

Look forward to responses

All Oxygens come with a throttle in the box with the bike. Many dealers can't be bothered to fit it or even pass it on to you. Whoever you bought the bike from, you should have insisted that they fit the throttle as a condition of purchase. It's perfectly legal, as the default setting is 4mph.

Lock and alarm separate.
I use an alarm, with remote control, hidden as a red rear light under the saddle. Just over 12 UK Pounds on ebay usually.
Runs for about 2 to 3 weeks with one charge.
No chains are 100%, but when removing it, the alarm will sound....very sensitive!
Buy the best chain (check tests!) that you can afford.
regards
Andy

Thanks for the helpful replies.
Doing between 50km and 80km per day for 3 days. Derestricted with a throttle, how careful do I need to be on using all of the battery juice? And what is the best method of maximising the mileage range on a day out?

Battery BMS will have lvc set so likely about 32v (3.2v per cell) will be about it. If you need to use down to lvc then do so it is a safe min limit, typically to get full cell capacity usage 2.5- 2.8v is manufacturers recommendation but really below 3.2v there is little to be gained.
Use throttle as little as poss or not at all, for best range use lowest PAS level you are happy with 1 or 2 for flat terrain or down hill set to 0 or turn off temporary. For incline/hills I find using a higher PAS is better then struggling up in low PAS.

So with the ranges I mention, would you say I need to be super aware of the amount I'm using both pedal assist and throttle?
Sorry, very new to all of this

There are three power settings in the display - something like eco, normal and sport. Obviously, you have to set it to eco to get the best range. This setting controls the maximum current from the controller. These are in addition to the 6 pedal assist levels that you adjust when riding. You have 18 levels of pedal assist altogether.

To get maximum speed, you need to be in sport mode and on level 6.

Ok very helpful thanks. So in order to retain enough power to see me through a 75km day, would it only have enough juice to use it very minimally?

Does it have a 'range remaining' indicator on the display? Or just battery bars remaining?

It's much the same or similar kit that we had when we bought the Oxydrive kit's.
I use current setting one (eco) nearly all the time and just used the six assist levels to get optimum range, though mainly used assist 2 -4 for optimum. With a new 13ah battery I did manage 52 miles once but generally 40 - 45 was more like it.

'Range remaining' can be very poor. On my Raleigh Motus Bosch it seem to rely on a very short history; for example coming downhill (not particularly big hills) to home it will often increase range remaining by about 5 miles (eg from 15 to over 20) or even more, while having travelled a couple of miles. I'm used to slight variations in my car, but nothing as absurd as on the bike. A sensible battery remaining % would be much more useful, or range based on the last 10-20 miles history.

House insurance won't cover it. Have you got contents insurance? Surely you can add the bike to it for a few quid? Well worth it for peace of mind.

I took out contents insurance just to get my £2.5k bike insured in our bike shed and away from home.
