ive also gone from 17stone 7 to 16stone I have the 1000w 48v from ebay and ride it 5 days aweek and it does well with the hills. At first i pretty much just used the motor but now i do a lot of the peddling myself. I might in the future try out one of the pre made bikes but for now I love the one ive built

As another 17 stoner, and Inspired by themutiny I have upped the daily ride from my normal 10 miles (45-50 mins) to 13.6 on Thursday (1.05 min) and 17.8 Friday (1.35 mins)

Now the Friday ride around south London seemed long........I was sure I had done over 20 miles but when I checked on Mapsource it was the 17.8

I am kinda thinking a decent non electric bike and a smaller route would probably have the same benefit? or even going around a fixed track or a exercise machine........I did try my sons old bike but it was so uncomfortable I could not ride it around the block lol

its just the stop start of London traffic is a bit of a bind. but I will try and define a 15 mile route avoiding traffic hot spots so that I can push on. in a short time I now hardly use throttle and peddle all the time. Hills are getting easier as my cycling is def getting stronger and I feel better.

This is all very appropriate as I am just about to embark on another massive diet. My last one was 4 years ago when I managed to loose 9 stone getting down from 21 to 12 however I am now back up to 22 this has happened 4 times during my adult life each time I have ended up at least a stone heavier.

I work from home so don't have a commute to help but as from today I will be riding my 906se prototype every day just for the fun.

Because of my weight we designed the 905's to take 150kg, all tests were carried out at that weight. We have a lot of heavier riders on the Wisper 905 range, however the 906xc Tourer has a Carbon Matrix frame which according to 3M will be 25% stronger and 30% lighter than the standard alloy frame. These will be available before Christmas but at a hefty £2,399.00. The Alpino 28" will be here in February and at £1,700.00 will easily cope with your weight and height.

How much larger is the frame on the 906 Alpino compared to the standard 905 model? I know the 28" wheels are an inch or two larger on the Alpino than the 905, but have not seen any figure for the difference in frame size.

It looks a fantastic bike, I initially thought the black would be the colour of choice, but having seen the photo's, I think the white looks rather cool (Not that I can claim to be any reliable judge on 'coolness')

White does look cool. Pearlescent even better. Blacks been overdone. So has silver.

Edit: The Alpino looks great. Has a police kind of look that would make want to get of my own bike and push it across the pedestrian crossing.

Its cyclical. There's a similar trend in the motor industry. Old generation Toyota Prius for example, white was unheard of. With the new gen, every other car is white (albeit pearlescent)

Now that vans aren't all white anymore it's probably a more acceptable colour, silver seems to be the common naff choice now. I like white cars, very easy to repair the paintwork.
