Overtaking on the inside or the outside

If it's only for a two car advantage even with a green cycle box at the front I will wait in line as there's no point forcing your way to the front just for the sake of it (althouth many do!).

As for overtaking on the outside, it would be head on into a bus territory on my normal commute, saying that most drivers do leave room on the inside for bikes.

I adapt to the situation, passing where there is space and after making my presence and intentions clear to the car in front. Some don't like it but that is their problem not mine. By the time they get moving again i am often at my destination. Most of the grumpy motorists come from regions of France where there are not many bikes on the road.

We have severe congestion for a large part of the year and most of the locals have a two wheeler for the summer, otherwise they would never arrive at work let alone on time. We have to deal with people who are on holiday and not happy that they are spending most of their time in a car which isn't moving. This year the number of bikes is much larger than last year so the regular holiday makers seem to have caught on to the idea that if you want to go someplace during July or August you need a bike.

I would say a threefold increase in e-bikes compared with last year. They are all over the place.
