Orbea Range Extender battery

I'm pondering buying the supplementary battery for my Gain BUT £549 is a lot of money - has anyone seen any discounted anywhere (UK or EU) or knowledge of any supplier that gives a discount to BC members or vouchers etc?

Wow, I though Bosch batteries were overpriced. (£529 for a 500w battery; more capacity than the Gain main battery + supplementary together). Good luck finding a more reasonable supply.

I like the comment at MTBmonster (https://www.mtbmonster.com/orbea-gain-range-extender-additional-battery/) There is no challenge that we cannot afford with this upgrade . They don't mention the challenge of affording it in the first place.

Yeah, I looked at those recently but it's not £500 for a 500wh battery, it's £549 to extend your 300wh battery you get by 208 Watt Hour Range Extender to give you 500wh in total!!! Whereas if you bought a Giant, you can get a 500wh battery, a motor system with 80nm of torque and buy another 500wh battery to give you a kilowatt? Not sure if that's entirely correct, but the Giant wouldn't look as "stealth" as an Orbea I guess... sorry, gone through google shopping and all shops that have them are priced at £549, are you on cyclescheme or cycle to work, If you're free to buy a new bike you could buy it as an accessory and benefit from the tax savings on it?

I think it might be even worse ...... the website I read stated the range extender charges the main battery rather than being directly used by the motor system

Which I can only assume adds another layer of inefficiency and losses
