In the end (more to do with lack of patience) I just fixed the sensor to the frame with a dab of superglue and I'll see how that works out. Felt pretty solid this morning.
you gotta luv improvisation - don't forget that superglue isn't waterproof - you wouldn't want a system failure on a damp/wet day (or any day!)!

My speed sensor had a small strip of double sided sticky tape, to stick the sensor to the frame - totally useless. Secured it using two very small zipties, and it's still there 2 years 7 months later.

I've now more or less completed the conversion. The £6 saddle bag turned out to be too small but I had another to hand which works well. I also installed a spare cassette to give better hill climbing ability.

I'd now like to route the rear hydraulic brake cable through the frame which necessitates the removal of the connection at one end or the other end. Will this require re-bleeding?
