Scott is the managing director of 50cycles.Hi Scott. I assume you work for 50 Cycles?
How do you consider they are addressing the problem? 'the problem' has been with the motor and the allied electronics - if you had bought a car that was basically unusable for 3/4 months and if the dealer had worked really hard to fix it every time the problem arose but the problem will not go away then either the dealer isn't doing their job - which they are - or the vehicle is not fit for purpose - In this situation what do I do? Get Scott to change the motor for the 4th time maybe...if that hasn't fixed the problem with 3 changes so far why keep doing the thing that doesn't work?If you had a car where the engine needed replacing after a year, you would get a new engine fitted not a refund or a new car. I think 50 cycles are now addressing the problem in a correct manner. Perhaps it's now time to move on.
If the finance was provided by a different company, then you may have a claim against the finance company under Section 75 of The Consumer Credit Act.50 C need to bear in mind I bought this on interest free @£170.41/month. I have not been able to use the bike properly, if at all, since early December...As it would be in Germany for say 3/4 weeks I reckon I'd then be owed 3x170.41 (I was away in Feb) for loss of use and paying for an item that wasn't usable for its primary purpose...

Might be worthwhile reading MSE's Section 75 article.
Hi RogHi Scott. I assume you work for 50 Cycles? Thanks for the response. First, I wasn't aware it was a 2015 model, not that that changes much..
This motor was fitted only a couple of weeks ago. I was told it's the latest upgrade and came direct from Germany. The motor isn't the problem at the moment (tho it is the 3rd fitted since I took delivery of the bike in March '16).
The main problems are from time to time:-
SPEED appears at random on the head unit and the bike then either loses power altogether or surges on gear changes and then loses power before the next gear change and won't toggle between modes.
The head unit shows 0 MPH, as if it's ready to go, but then doesn't record speed or distance and though it appears to toggle between modes has no drive.
A variant on this is the gradual loss of power till you end up pedalling a VERY heavy MTB but with no sign of problems on the head unit...
Then it self cures and carries on as if it's all Ok
If I were fixin the flippin thing I'd be looking at the interface between the battery and the motor - just saying...
I am told by 50 Cycles, Shoreham, and have no reason to think this isn't true, that they changed the speed and gear sensors and the motor when it was in a couple of weeks ago....but the problems have returned...!
I have asked for my money back but am being told that Joseph Kneip, something to do with marketing, has said the bike has to be returned to Germany - for reeducation, a short holiday? Tried to email Mr Kneip but got a bad gateway on customerservice@50cycles.com

My money back!
Nice work, if you can get it, Scott!Soundwave Sad Sack, what do you really know about Daum? I have just spent some of the best 4 days of my life riding Daum/Kalkhoff Impulse motors all over Majorca testing every bike in the range and their concept is excellent. Your thoughts are Deluded and clueless. You are not even a customer of ours or an owner of the product you so much love to talk about.
The Impulse motor is the number one electric bike system ever sold in Europe and provided transport for 1 million around Europe of which 20000 in the UK.

Please respond using the correct Grammer or not at all. I have helped you out here.Their motors are awesome! Proven over and over again.
If you are confident that they are good, offer a 12 months warranty and a full refund if the motor fails.
Put your money where your mouth is, I am a cluesless empty vessal
Hi Rog
It would be better if you email me directly or Joe on aftersales@50cycles.com
Your bike is being discussed with Focus and we will communicate you the outcome. We are working to get you the best resolution.
Please ignore the couple of trolls on here that both have vested interests in their opinions and what you would call advocators.
We do not enter the forum very often due to this cyber slander/bullying but hope to get your case resolved asap. Please email me your invoice or order number so I can get the correct article number to pass on to the powers that be and give you a call. scott@50cycles.com
Kind regards
Scott
I wouldn't like to make that assumption. things work slightly differently in Germany. The hierarchy and lines of communication work differently there and the engineers can be a bit arrogant. The impulse motor engineers by the process of elimination must have a reliable product by now because of all the returned motors that will have been inspected.
Keep us informed please. I don't know how to repair the bikes when they go wrong. As I can't I am interested in the shop servicing record. Raleigh is not all it is cracked up to be with the Raleigh Motus either (hearsay). One of the rival shops in Shoreham: 50Cycles, Halford, Giant or Raleigh to chose from. (I think these all repair the ebikes they sell?)Hi Scott
Thanks for the response. Just dropped the bike off to Charles at Shoreham for his attention. I'll contact you as you suggest (probably Monday or Tuesday next week). Meant to add the order no 15208 of 04/03/2016 - invoice no is shown as 0 (really)
