Off topic question for battery experts

My cordless screwdriver suddenly failed. It started going really slowly and then stopped and then refused to charge. On checking it the charger output was approx 4.8 volts but the battery voltage off charge was less than 1 volt. I believe that indicates an unrecoverable battery. I know nothing about Li ion batteries other than they can become dangerous!

1. Is it an 18650? There are no markings on the battery whatsoever.

2. Do I need a protected or unprotected replacement? I've shown what can be seen of the pcb board.

3. Can I get the highest rating battery I can find?

4. Where can I get a single cell complete with solder tags which would be suitable.

5. Are there any questions I should have asked

Measure the cell, if its 65.2mm long and 18.3mm diameter, it's a standard 18650 cell. If the length is more like 68mm, it's a protected cell and is technically an 18680 cell. Your's is probably a standard cell Malcolm. Replace with the same type.

This company sells tagged 18650 standard cells.

You can use any capacity rating, but a 2200 mAh is likely to be more robust than a 3000 mAh for example.

This guy is still selling 18650 cells.
They come in prs and you'll need to separate them by removing the heatsrink & cuting the tabs in half.
To run my lights I've brought a few prs, split them and then reassembled them in blocks of 6 to get 13.2 amps @ 3.7v
ive also built a pack containing 12 cells (3s4p) to use with my iPad speaker/dock station.
