I treat it much the same as my mobile phone battery and I'm happy with its performance although it's showing the first signs of degradation this winter - only 4 lamps on following the press and hold test. I'm hoping that Flecc's right and that the battery may recover the apparent reduction in power once the weather warms up again. The bike (and battery) has been kept outside all winter whereas it was garaged through previous winters.4/5 years battery life that's pretty good going Indalo..did you take special care of it or just treat it normally?
I'm on my second battery now, a BMS 10Ah Lithium-Ion.. which I've had for about 5 months now... my first battery was a 2 x 5Ah LiFePo4 and one of them failed after just 8 months. These were cheap batteries from eBay though made by some Chinese guy operating a small biz... the other one of the pair is ok but was never quite as powerful as the one that failed. I'm not sure if the batteries were just poor quality, under too much load (I used them separately), or whether I was just unlucky, it appears only one cell died and the seller couldn't replace it when I asked.Isn't your battery holding up pretty well too?

I would think the same about bidding on an item like this... way too much of a gamble once it goes past £600. You only have the sellers word its ok and he's not got much reputation... with auctions you have very little/zero comeback if anything goes wrong eh. That's what makes me a bit suspicious on high value items offered by auction with no reserve... if I was selling a bike like that which is as he described, mint condition and all in good order..then I would do an offer-based listing...start with the price you want (or a bit higher) and allow offers..Agh. Caught out. I thought I was too clever for you guys!
I actually, as you have surely determined, was very interested in the bike hence the reason I started to follow this sale. I'm still following it purely now out of interest. I'm not bidding, no seriously I'm not, for the following reasons :
The bike may be near new however there is no way of telling as to how the battery has been treated since "new". I would guess that any purchaser might have to factor in the cost of a new battery which for the BionX system is astronomical. I can buy a new Valencia for £1220.00 with full warranty. I still think that the present bidding, from the history of "bids", is questionable even though the two highest bids can't be linked to the seller.
Factoring in the new battery cost I would say that the present price at £525.00 is approx' £50 or so away from the max'. Anything above £600.00 is a pure gamble and I don't gamble.
Just looked at the pictures of that bike and i am 100% certain that bike is brand new. Those handlebar grips get dirty after one or two rides and they look new. The bionx motor on the Trek has a dimple pattern which is impossible to keep clean. So i do reckon this bike has hardly turned a wheel.
I called them to inquire about step through's and this one @ £999 is ex demo, as new, with warranty...Yes the valencia really does not sell well. But i bet if you phone for any of the 2-5 days one you will not get it for 999 that will be for the one thats been kicking about the shop for years.
But if you could get it for £999 that would be the better buy.
Lets put it this way, there cannot be many 20" new treks for sale at a reduced priceI called them to inquire about step through's and this one @ £999 is ex demo, as new, with warranty...
may well be the one on ebay
Seems it was the last bike with the free ticket to Willy Wonka's factory tour. If I'd known i would have bid!£869 was good enough. Great price for a good quality bike.

Hmm. Not me. Still no feedback on Ebay from the purchaser.C'mon own up, who snipped that bike at 869.
