From a major Korean car parts manufacturer, an intriguing new design with a novel folding frame. It's chainless, the link doesn't say how, but I believe it uses an electric transmission, pedalling a dynamo to drive a rear motor. To make that effective enough I think it needs a mains recharged battery as well:

Oh, that will be efficient, then.
Not! It's something that could work with an added battery though, the battery compensating for the inherent losses. On a folder where dirty chains are a nuisance and belts not always a convenient solution, small battery aided electric transmission could have a place.

Just done some googling Flecc and a generator in the bottom bracket feeds a battery that powers a rear wheel motor . Either the electronic system powers the motor according to the riders`effort in pedaling or the rider can use it like a moped with a throttle . Looks a bit advanced for our Legislators ? If they accept it , we can throw away all our existing Ebikes .

Thank for that RoadieRoger. The inefficiency will be it's problem for most e-bike applications though. Conversion of pedal effort to electricity via a generator has substantial loss, on top of the losses we already have for the conversion of electric current to mechanical power. Normal bike transmission is just far too good to scrap yet.

I could see this working well enough as a short town journey machine though, acceptable for the cleanliness and convenience.

Yes I think it would be illegal in this country (and most of europe) as it isn't powered by the pedals.
