Not exactly bikes, but associated. my wife trails behind when we go riding. It would be nice to be able to say “Everything ok?” or “Nice Autumn colours!”, but she wouldn’t hear me.

I saw a couple cycling the other day that seemed to have two-way communication, and were chatting as they cycled along. Does anyone have any thoughts on an unobtrusive mic and earpiece type thing that they could recommend? I don’t want to look like a fighter pilot though…

whatapps between your two phones?

Was wondering if our iphones would be an answer, but what about call charges if they are connected for a long while?

Do you get other people breaking in on whatever channel you are using? I know they are very short range, so I wouldn’t think it was a necessarily a problem.

Maybe if I set my iphone up as a wifi hotspot and my wife connects to that. Maybe an IP connection would be possible?

There are a whole load of motorbike intercoms that you can use. Some clip to helmets, but there are all sorts to choose from.

My friend and I used to use walkie talkies that you can get from Amazon. It was really funny one day, when we came across badger baiters communicating on the same channel as us. We heard something like, " Up the slope, there under the bushes, get the dogs. Push, push push. So my friend said, "Alpha 2, Alpha 1. Isee them up the slope by the bushes with the dogs. I'll go round to the south if you can intercept them from the east". I replied, "Wilco, about 2 minutes". There was absolute silence after that. We didn't see anybody, and had no idea where they were. we were just riding down a lane when we heard them.

it's just an IP to IP app, there is no charge even if you use it for a whole day.

I’ve just taken a look at clip-on ones. the Sena Pi looks nice and neat without too much bulk. Around 80 quid per person though. Then I looked at the Sena R1 helmet for around £100, and you get twice the range and talk-time and other bells and whistles AND a stonkingly nice crash hat as well. I’m currently convincing myself that we need some new helmets! They will last a lifetime though… (not long for some of us)

Only once in London years back when a prat taxi said get off I also said ...... off no never, we all use our birthdays so if we swapped channel say 14-12 we would go to say 07-11 without saying as we know to do that in case, never needed

Shame you didn't say "PC Williams here, X station, thank you for the heads up"

She’ll claim that she’s keeping the string taut, but I know she’d be getting a sneaky tow!

I had some of them a good few years ago, can't find a new set anywhere. It's a plot by Duracell.

I labelled the wifi on my wildlife camera GMP Mobile 5, any wifi can be renamed for giggles.
