I have a Trek Powerfly+ FS9 with a Bosch performance Line motor, it is six months old and from new it has always had a whirring noise when operating together with a slight buzz through the pedals. Since this is my first Bosch motor I excepted it as the norm....only now I have just taken delivery of a Cube Touring Pro Easy Entry fitted with excactly the same motor for my lovely wife and it is amazingly smooth and quiet compared to my Trek!!!
When riding the Trek without assistance there is a lot of drag and whirring from the motor yet doing the same on the Cube gives very little of either at all.
This makes me a little concerned that my motor may have something not quite right with it...any suggestions?
Many thanks
Dave

P.S. Nicking my wifes motor is not an option...:)

I think your wife’s bike has the active + motor, which is less powerful but quieter.

Thanks for the reply. Both motors are Performance Line. I did consider buying Active Plus but both are definitely Performance Line motors

I believe that the Bosch CX motors are inherently noisier than the Active Line Plus.
However, when the CX gets really noisy, you may need the help of Peter Collard at Performance Line Bearings:
