That's a great offer.

But if there's an issue elsewhere could the new controller not be damaged by connecting it to the system?

Who knows what's been done to the wiring or other parts by persons unknown

there is a little risk. The OP can also ask to borrow a new 790 LED panel and a set of new cable... We keep stock of these parts for our old models.

Great offer, thanks! But the problem is that I am not based in the UK. As a swede doing business with UK based firms nowadays I have the toll regulations to factor in. As a minimum the Swedish mail will add around 10$ for their 'help' with declaring VAT for the goods. Then the VAT added is another 25% of the total sum. Returning something to the UK is probably a nightmare, that I don't plan to ever engage in.

That is why it is probably better to order one from aliexpress, such as: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001359636714.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.52f35bfcMLBJPh&algo_pvid=a2d19cf3-dbbe-4da5-82e3-cc72743501f5&algo_exp_id=a2d19cf3-dbbe-4da5-82e3-cc72743501f5-2&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id":"12000028141333008"}&pdp_npi=2@dis!SEK!!334.96!!!!!@2100bb4c16567820685803458e5722!12000028141333008!sea

This is around 35$ wich is well spent money (if it solves the issue)

It should work without the hall sensors from the motor connected, at least that is what the first guy from canada states in the reviews.

Red/purple are likely unused brake sensors, throttle will/should be 3 wires.

The new controller has arrived and it didn't help. The exact same behaviour, just a couple of pushes than rotates the wheel a couple of degrees. Must be the motor that is malfunctioning. Can I check it in some easy way? Measured the resistance between the three phase connectors from the motor with the controller disconnected, and the result is 0 Ohm between each phase, a short circuit. Is this normal?

Already done that, but that is to check the controller. Now I am measuring on a disconnected motor, no controller in the loop.

Now I have found the error. The cable connector to the motor sitting on the fork were not fully insulated. There was leakage between the power cables. Cutting it and replacing the wiring did the trick. The old controller did not work either, so it probably broke in the process.
Now my hall sensorfor the PAS is broken as well, but that is an easy replacement.
