Or even make the front mudguard long enough at the rear. This one in the OP's thread first post is ridiculous, hardly shields anything, not even the downtube:

I have the second one which also happens to cost 10% of the first ones price... Despite its length water still reaches the motor, it would have to go down to within a couple of cm from the road to stop water spray.

I have this one on the back, I actually shortened the rear mudguard so that it doesn't get pushed against the wheel while maneuvering and this is very effective against spray.
