6.JPG Hi all. I'm retired Ex driving instructor/ Bricklayer. over years Done the Wainwrights, 150+ Munros including 5 main ridge walks in Scotland. Spent many years walking in the Dark Peak. But after spending 20yrs sat in a car Driving instructing put on a lot a weight.25st to be exact, it also gave me back problems, I cant walk more than 100yds before I get painful spasms in my back. Being totally unfit I bought a cheap MTB Luckily I found I can sit on a bike all day. All I was doing was riding around local streets. So my mate suggested I borrow is E-MTB. A OXYGEN MTB. After a few rides on the local TPT. I could easily do 10miles. Now I've lost 6st and still losing. After trying a few of the cheap Chinese E-MTB's with the 8 Fun motor. I now have my present and final MTB. A brill Scott E-Spark 710 with the Bosch 2016 CX Line motor. Also a Rock Shock stealth dropper seat post.

I'm a member of a local MTB club but there's quite a few that's not happy me joining rides. It's all about fast paces and beating PR times, and doing it under your own steam. Without my E-MTB I couldn't get out and do the mileage I'm doing now
So is there any E-MTB clubs around S. Yorks. that's just wants to enjoy the countryside. In my many years of walking. We always walked the Wainwright way. "Stop often and look around" that's just how I want to enjoy my new venture into Mountain Biking

Thanks for listening
Cheers Derek

If only more people approached life that way! Best of luck finding some riding companions with the same mindset. Well done on the weight loss, too - great way to show that a bit of motor assistance doesn't mean a free ride!
Thanks for your comments, With the 2016 Bosch CX Performance Line Motor. You can ride in your comfort zone or tire yourself out depending the amount assist you need. It only gives back what you put in. Pedal soft it reacts back soft giving full control over technical terrain. A great vid explains what the Bosch CX Line motor can do.

Welcome bud,

i am on the larger side myself(23st) and am expecting a woosh big bear ebike within the next few days. My main goal is to commute into work using the assist so i arrive dry(er), and then reduce the assist on the way home, so I get a good workout.

Great news that you have lost 6 stone!.

I would suggest that you take a look at sky rides, as far as i know, they have no limits on the type of bike on the ride, so you wont get anyone moaning that you are on an ebike.

Welcome aboard and fair play to you in getting out there and living the dream. :)

You're not a million miles from 'Flud'. He bikes around the Lady Bower dam area and has put up some beautiful scenic pics of his adventures there. Just don't drink from the reservoir, his guide dog has relieved himself in it. :D
