Newbie question, car lead acid batteries, 4x12v in a trailer. so weight not a problem.

Indeed - the reason I used the small SLA batteries is that I had 16 of them in my garage that cost me nothing. Definitely very inferior to lithium though, both in terms of weight, charge time and performance.

But they were free so meant I could try out the 250W hub kit on my wife's bike whilst searching around for a 36V lithium battery for a good price.
